My understanding of plagiarism, besides "don't do it" is that you should be authentic with your printed work. If you use someone else's ideas or information you have to cite your source in order to give them credit for that information and or idea that you will be using. An idea that is confusing to me, would be, if you are creating something where you are using someone else's information in a video or a recording for example, do you also have to cite that source? and in what way?

After reading the paper on plagiarism I learned that there are many different forms of plagiarism. You don't necessarily have to be writing an essay in order to be plagiarizing an idea. You can also plagiarize someone else's mathematical expressions, It would also be plagiarism to copy someone else's artwork or computer coding. The bottom line is that you may use other people's information and ideas, you just can't pass them off as your own. You must give them the recognition they deserve whenever you are using ideas that are not your own.
