In order to answer this question effectively and accurately, I would have to know in what respect am I answering the question? As a student or as a teacher? It would help to know which perspective I should take, the teacher's or the students'? There are some worrisome things regarding this question, like the idea of even having technology available to everyone. I don't believe that everyone has access to technology and this would make it quite difficult to work with. Definitely the downside of technology is the overuse and abuse of technology in our lives. We have become the mere extentions of the electronic devices that we own, and it begs to question if we own technology or if technology now own us?
What I find exciting about this idea is the great potential that it hold with it. There are so many new opportunities for learning using technology, that were never available before. The most exciting about technology to me is what is to come. We have such a long way from the old school overhead projectors that were used 20 years ago in the classroom, that I cannot wait to see what the future has in store for all of the future teachers.
I currently think that while technology is a great asset to education, OI can't help but wonder if in the future we will lose our love for books and the knowledge they bring us. I know that with the surgence of audio books it has become such an easy task to finish a whole book and gain knowledge on a particular theme or subject matter and it is exciting to think about how much more we could possibly learn if we are able to devour books of information so much quicker.
It has become so much easier to take notes in class and be able to research so many new concepts with just the magic of our fingertips. We are also able to carry thousands of books worth of information in one tiny device as our tablets, or laptops. They will take the place of our paper and pencil in the very near future as it becomes more readily available for everyone.
